Yankees Finalizing Deal For Andrew Benintendi
2 years agoThe New York Yankees are finalizing a deal on Wednesday night to acquire outfielder Andrew Benintendi from the Kansas City Royals, according to sources. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that minor league pitchers Chandler Champlain, Beck Way and T.J. Sikkema are headed to the Royals in exchange for Benintendi. The 28-year-old Benintendi was an All-Star for the first time this year, and he's slashing .320/.387/.398 with three home runs, 39 RBI, 40 runs scored and four stolen bases on the season. He should be a regular in New York's outfield the rest of the way, and he'll be a boost with Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles) recently landing on the injured list. Benintendi's counting stats should receive a notable boost in the Bronx. Sikkema and Way were the Yankees' No. 19 and 20 prospects, respectively, per MLB Pipeline.
