4 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman/designated hitter Mike Ford was optioned to the team’s alternate site on Tuesday. Ford never really got going at the plate this season with an ugly .496 OPS through 29 games, and it’s not as though he’d been heating up lately, as he hadn’t recorded a hit in over two weeks despite playing in nearly every game for the Yankees. With playing time in the Yankees lineup becoming sparse as several players return from the injured list, Ford and his poor play were a natural roster casualty. Ford is unlikely to see much, if any, major league playing time over the rest of the season and can be dropped in all leagues as a result.--Sam Chinitz
