4 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Mike Ford was optioned to the minor leagues by the team on Friday. Ford's demotion comes as no surprise as the Yankees have a crowded competition to fill out the remaining spots on their bench, but it's disappointing to see Ford lose his MLB playing time after posting a .909 OPS in 50 games two years ago. Ford is likely to be buried behind at least Luke Voit and Jay Bruce at first base in 2021, and it'll be even harder for him to find playing time at DH. Ford is likely to be a non-factor for fantasy purposes this year as a result, although he could be a potentially attractive DFS option if he hits well in the minors and gets occasional MLB playing time.--Sam Chinitz
