Matt Carpenter Goes On IL, Yankees Recall Miguel Andujar
2 years agoThe New York Yankees placed infielder Matt Carpenter (foot) on the 10-day injured list with a left foot fracture on Tuesday and recalled infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Andujar has logged 52 plate appearances in the majors this season and is hitting .245 with a .269 on-base percentage and three stolen bases. In 267 plate appearances with New York's Triple-A affiliate this season, he's batting .293 with a .337 on-base percentage, 12 home runs and five stolen bases. Capable of playing third base, first base and left field, the 27-year-old will provide the Yankees with some additional depth at multiple positions. Carpenter will be out for the foreseeable future and may not be able to return again during the regular season in 2022.
