Yankees Seen As Serious Contenders For Andrew Benintendi
2 years agoThe New York Yankees have emerged as "serious contenders" to acquire Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi before the Aug. 2 trade deadline, according to a source. Benintendi's fantasy stock would definitely go way up with a move to the first-place Yankees with the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium. The 28-year-old isn't vaccinated against COVID-19, which could become a problem if he's dealt to New York and then end up facing the Toronto Blue Jays in the postseason, but his vaccination status doesn't appear to be an issue for now. Benintendi doesn't have much power (only three home runs), but the first-time All-Star is hitting a solid .319/.389/.402 with 39 RBI, 37 runs scored and two stolen bases in 88 games for the Royals.
