Yasmani Grandal On Crutches After Calf Injury
3 years agoChicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa said after Monday's loss versus the Minnesota Twins that catcher Yasmani Grandal (calf) was on crutches in the locker room. Grandal first suffered left calf tightness on Friday and sat out on Saturday and Sunday, but felt good enough to give it a go on Monday. Despite trying to tough it out, Grandal reinjured his calf and exited early. No timetable was given on the veteran, but managers shouldn't rule out a stint on the injured list. Backup catcher Zack Collins would become the starter if Grandal does miss time and is hitting .227 with three home runs and 19 RBI on the season. Collins is a worth a look in very deep leagues, but there should be better options available on the waiver wire at the moment.
