Yasmany Tomas Not Assured A Starting Spot
7 years agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Yasmany Tomas might not be assured of a starting position in spring training, according to Nick Piecoro of Arizona Central. “I think a corner outfield spot is available, and how we fill that and who starts and who plays is going to be up for grabs,” stated manager Torey Lovullo. Outfielder A.J. Pollock will be manning center field and David Peralta is in one of the other two outfield spots. The Diamondbacks recently acquired Steven Souza Jr, who will likely play the other outfield spot, and Jarrod Dyson. Tomas seems to be the odd man out and will likely become a bench option if he remains on the team. Tomas has demonstrated big power in the past but does not have on-base skills and his defensive ability is lacking. Tomas should not be drafted in any league.
