2 years agoDesignated hitter/catcher Yermin Mercedes was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. Mercedes won rookie of the month in April of 2021, but hasn't been able to find that form since. In triple-A this season, Mercedes slashed .230/.376/.425 with four homers in 87 at-bats. The 29-year-old smashes left-handed pitching, and the Giants are known to use players in platoon roles, so there is a chance that he puts up some decent numbers. That being said, he will likely have very limited fantasy potential and should only be picked up in deep daily leagues where he can be put into and taken out of the lineup based on when he plays.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller
