3 years agoChicago White Sox designated hitter Yermin Mercedes suffered a hamate fracture in his left hand and will undergo a CT scan on Monday, according to James Fegan of The Athletic. He will miss six to eight weeks with the ailment. Mercedes caught the league by storm at the beginning of last season, hitting .415 with a 1.113 OPS over his first 22 games. However, he cooled down drastically afterwards and was demoted in early July. The long-time minor leaguer finished with a .271/.328/.404 slash line in 68 games. The White Sox roster is loaded with talent, so even before the injury, it would've been difficult for manager Tony La Russa to give him consistent playing time. Fantasy managers shouldn't be drafting him in any format at this point.--Spencer Seguin - RotoBaller
