3 years agoChicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (oblique) will begin his minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Charlotte. Moncada is experiencing some pain while swinging left-handed, but he's been cleared to resume playing in games in the minors. The 26-year-old has been battling a right oblique strain for almost a month, and the White Sox will make sure not to rush him back for his regular season debut. If everything goes well on his rehab assignment, Moncada could make his first start for the White Sox this year at some point next week. Jake Burger has primarily been starting at the hot corner in Chicago with Moncada sidelined. Moncada hit .263/.375/.412 with 14 home runs, 61 RBI and 74 runs scored in 616 plate appearances over 144 games in 2021.
