Yonny Chirinos Tosses Three Innings At Triple-A
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays right-hander Yonny Chirinos (elbow) made his first minor league rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Friday and allowed an earned run on one hit while walking two and striking out one in three innings of work. Chirinos hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2020, when he made just three starts for Tampa. Since he's been out for such an extended period of time, he'll likely require more time in the minor leagues, and it remains to be seen if he'll be an option for the Rays rotation down the stretch. In 2019, the 28-year-old had a 3.85 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and a 114:28 K:BB in 26 appearances (18 starts). It's a long shot that Chirinos will provide any fantasy value in 2022.
