6 years agoHouston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez is one of the hottest hitters in the game heading into the team's battle with the White Sox on Monday. Alvarez impressed coaches by slashing .317/.406/.733 in his first professional month of baseball in June and somehow taken his game to an even more elite level. The rookie is slashing an unbelievable .459/.500/.946 through the first nine games of August with three doubles, five home runs and 15 runs batted in. There are few situations that scare the young slugger, who is also slashing .393/.435/.750 with runners in scoring position. But can Alvarez keep this up? He is an extremely talented player but a slight regression has to be on the horizon. A .407 BABIP and the fact that he is on pace for 60-plus home runs over a 162-game schedule are easy indicators that Alvarez could struggle to keep up this pace the rest of the season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
