5 years agoHouston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez will get his first taste of the playoffs when the team opens up their postseason on Friday. The rookie has come out of relative obscurity to absolutely throttle opposing pitchers all season long and has a strong chance at the AL Rookie of the Year award. From the moment Alvarez was called up on June 9, the slugger has hit over .300 in every month until he posted a .296 mark in the month of September. He slashed .344/.427/.677 with runners in scoring position this season and has posted an incredible 1.140 OPS at Minute Maid Park.
