Yordan Alvarez Scratched Sunday
3 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez was scratched from the Grapefruit League lineup on Sunday with what a team spokesman called "a personal matter." Lewis Brinson is making the start in right field in Alvarez's place, with Kyle Tucker in left field. It's unknown when Alvarez will be back in a spring training game, but the good news is it's not injury related. The 24-year-old bounced back from a lost 2020 season in a big way last year, hitting .277/.346/.531 with a career-high 33 home runs, 104 RBI and 92 runs scored in 598 plate appearances over 144 games. Despite only playing in 233 major league games over three seasons, the Cuban slugger has one of the highest power floors in baseball.
