4 years agoHouston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez has been ruled out for the rest of 2020 due to a surgical procedure that he will have to correct a partial tear in his right knee. Alvarez had gotten a delayed start this year due to having contracted COVID-19, but homered in his first plate appearance last Friday. He got into just two games before the knee ailment became too much, finishing the year 2-for-8 at the plate. With Michael Brantley (quad) also currently unavailable, Kyle Tucker and Josh Reddick retain sizable season-long consideration to fill-in for Alvarez. Ahead of the 2021 season, Alvarez will likely have Top 50 Draft choice potential due to his immense power, assuming his rehab goes off without a hitch.--Jesse Borek
