Yordan Alvarez To Start Taking Batting Practice Soon
4 years agoHouston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (undisclosed) has started hitting and hopes to begin taking live batting practice soon. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year missed all of summer camp for undisclosed reasons and was cleared to resume baseball activities last Friday. If he progresses smoothly, Alvarez could join the Astros at some point on their road trip next week, but his swing may not be in midseason form facing taxi squad pitchers. The 23-year-old's ability to hit for power and average is salivating, but his slow start could affect his shortened season numbers.
