6 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish gave up one earned run but walked six batters in four innings pitched versus the Marlins on Thursday. Darvish now sports a 17.8 percent walk rate, which is by far the worst rate in the majors among qualified pitchers. He's walked at least three batters in all but one start and has walked at least four batters in six of eight starts. Darvish certainly has a ton of potential, but it's hard to trust him when he's pitching like this. He'll carry an inflated 5.40 ERA and an FIP close to 7.00 into his next scheduled start in Cincinnati.
