Yu Darvish Heads To Injured List
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish (hip) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with left hip inflammation, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The move is retroactive to July 9, meaning he won't be eligible to start until the fourth game after the break. Nabil Crismatt has been recalled from Triple-A El Paso. Darvish, who had planned to pitch in the All-Star game, has been dealing with back and hip tightness for the last several weeks, but it got worse on Thursday and he was pulled after three innings against the Washington Nationals. The 34-year-old right-hander has allowed 10 earned runs and 14 hits (three home runs) in nine innings in his last two starts, but he still has a 3.09 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 125 strikeouts in 105 innings over 18 starts in his first season with San Diego. However, his back and hip issues must be monitored closely as we approach the second half.
