Yuli Gurriel Getting The Day Off
2 years agoHouston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the New York Yankees. Gurriel's season-long slump continues, and he's hitting just .211 (15-for-71) with two homers and five RBI in 20 games in the month of June, so hopefully a day off will help clear his head. In his last 19 games, he has only two hits, with each coming in the last two games. Overall, the 38-year-old is slashing a disappointing .216/.268/.369 with five home runs, 18 RBI, 22 runs scored and three stolen bases in 254 plate appearances. Fantasy managers may want to keep him benched until he shows some improvement at the plate. J.J. Matijevic is starting at the cold corner and is hitting seventh on Saturday against Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole.
