7 years agoHouston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel is hitting .309 through 81 at-bats in the month of May. He has six doubles but zero home runs and is slugging only .383 during this span. There is little doubt that Gurriel is a professional hitter, but it is fair to question whether his preseason hand injury is affecting his power right now. Gurriel had to undergo surgery on his hand for a broken hamate bone and didn't make his season debut until April 13. Gurriel slugged .486 last season with 18 home runs and 43 doubles, but those kind of results have not manifested to this point. Gurriel has value in AL-only leagues, but fantasy owners in other formats should hesitate until he begins to hit the ball with more authority.--Joey C - RotoBaller
