6 years agoHouston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel has picked up in the second half right where he left off, going 6-for-13 (.461) since the All-Star break. Gurriel continues to swing the hottest bat in all of baseball, slashing .395/.439/.1.053 with one double, eight home runs, 12 runs scored and 18 runs batted in over his last nine games. Gurriel's slugging percentage has sky-rocketed during this span, jumping from .423 on June 29 to .493 heading into Monday's matchup against the Angels. This offensive surge suddenly has Gurriel on course for his best season as a pro and already is two home runs away from his career-high of 18.
