Yusei Kikuchi Drawing Interest From Yankees
3 years agoThe New York Yankees requested/received medicals for free-agent left-hander Yusei Kikuchi before MLB's lockout began in early December. The New York Mets are also expected to have interest in Kikuchi once MLB and the players reach a new collective bargaining agreement, which could come as soon as Wednesday. The 30-year-old southpaw had a 4.41 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 162 strikeouts and 62 walks in 157 innings over 29 starts for the Seattle Mariners in 2021. Kikuchi wasn't great, but he did manage to make his first All-Star team. In his three seasons in Seattle, he had a 4.97 ERA and 1.40 WHIP while striking out 326 and walking 132 in 365 2/3 innings over his 70 starts. If he signs with the Yanks, he'll be more of a back-end fantasy starter.
