Yusei Kikuchi Solid Over Five Innings In No-Decision
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Yusei Kikuchi snapped a cold streak Thursday tossing five innings of one-run ball against the Minnesota Twins. The lefty walked two while striking out four as the only blemish in the run column came on a solo home run by Nelson Cruz in the no-decision. Kikuchi has struggled of late failing to finish the fourth inning in each of his last three starts, perhaps showing some fatigue that comes with the change in pitching schedule on this side of the Pacific. For the year, the rookie is 3-4 and holds a 4.78 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 75.1 IP, numbers not quite worthy of a roster spot in mixed leagues. Kikuchi will have an easier matchup at home against the Royals next week in a potential streaming spot.
