Zac Gallen Makes NL History With Thursday Start
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen has proven difficult to score against during his brief Major League career, finding his way into the record books after his start Thursday versus Houston. Gallen struck out six batters over his six innings, yielding just two runs to tie the National League record with 18 consecutive starts to begin his career having allowed three earned runs or fewer. Having been acquired from Miami at the 2019 Trade Deadline, Gallen has seamlessly acclimated to Arizona, having compiled 21 strikeouts across his first 16 innings to open 2020. He’ll put his stuff -- and the record -- to the test in his next outing, which is slated to take place at Coors Field. Even with that in mind, Gallen is an underrated rotation piece in any season-long format.
