4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen (elbow) was scratched from his start on Wednesday and was placed on the 10-day injured list with a minor sprain in his UCL, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Manager Torey Lovullo said that Gallen has a "minor sprain of one section of his UCL in his right elbow," and that the plan is to reevaluate his injury "in a couple weeks". This is another blow to Gallen this year, who opened the season on the injured list with a small fracture in his right forearm. Managers everywhere dread hearing mention of the UCL in a pitcher, and while it doesn't sound like it's a season-ending injury at this point, it could very well end up becoming one. Stash him on your injured list for now, and look for further updates within the next few weeks.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
