Zac Gallen Starting Saturday Against Mets
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen (thumb) will make his season debut on Saturday against the New York Mets after having his last start on Tuesday against the Houston Astros pushed back due to a small cut on his right thumb. The 26-year-old right-hander dealt with shoulder bursitis this offseason as well, but he was sharp in two spring training starts for the D-backs. Gallen has excellent control and had a 4.30 ERA and 1.29 WHIP while fanning 139 and walking 49 in 23 starts over 121 1/3 innings in 2021. In his first start of the season against a tough Mets lineup, Gallen will be more risky than usual for fantasy managers.
