3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen struggled in a loss to the Cubs on Friday, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings of work. Gallen has not looked good at all since returning from an IL stint for a partial tear in his UCL, going 0-4 over his last six starts while allowing 18 runs on 27 hits and 12 walks over 24 innings of work. He has managed to post a 26.1 percent strikeout rate in that span, but the negatives of his game right now outweigh that strikeout rate. It's possible that the elbow could still be an issue for Gallen, and he could be shut down in the near future. For now, managers should consider benching Gallen until he can turn things around on the mound.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
