Zac Gallen Unlikely To Be Ready For Opening Day
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen (shoulder) is "unlikely to be ready to take the ball in the second game of the season," writes Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Hindered by a shoulder injury, Gallen threw a two-inning simulated game on Friday and should take the mound in a spring training contest soon. However, Arizona doesn't want to rush him back, hence the idea that he'll open the regular season on the shelf. The former top prospect finished 2021 with a 4.30 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, .231 xBA and 1.39 WHIP through 23 starts last season.
