Zach Britton Has Disastrous Outing Friday
7 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Zach Britton could only manage one out in Friday's 10-7 extra-inning win over the Braves. Britton entered the ninth inning up by four runs and proceeded to allow four runs on five hits and a hit batsman. Britton's only out was not really his doing, as Freddie Freeman was thrown out at home attempting to score on a Nick Markakis double. Britton has only pitched 4 2/3 innings this season since returning from an Achilles injury but now has an ugly 7.71 ERA with five strikeouts and four walks. While he has been an All-Star closer for the Orioles in the past, Britton clearly has some rust to shake off before resuming that role.
