Zach Davies Fails To Go Five Innings In Game 1 Of Doubleheader
3 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Zach Davies once again failed to go five innings in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Colorado Rockies. The veteran went 4 2/3 innings and allowed three hits, two runs, one walk and struck out six. Davies has had a rough season for the Cubs and his inability to go deep into games with a low strikeout rate has made him expendable in all formats. For the season, Davies is 6-10 with an ugly 5.00 ERA. Next up for the right-hander will be a date against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Even in a very favorable matchup, managers could shy away from the veteran.
