Zach Davies Gets Shelled
4 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Zach Davies got lit up versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. Davies only threw nine pitches in a scoreless first inning, but blew up in the bottom of the second inning. Davies would allow five hits, seven runs and three in the bottom of the second before being pulled with two outs. Davies final line over 1 2/3 innings was five hits, seven runs, three walks and two strikeouts. It was a very poor performance against a poor Pirates offense. Davies did well in his first start, but should be viewed more as a streaming option outside of deeper leagues. Davies will look to get back on track versus a tough Braves offense on Friday and should be avoided in that matchup.
