3 years agoFree-agent starting pitcher Zach Davies signed a one-year major league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Davies will have the chance to make up to $4.5 million and includes a team option for 2023. The veteran right-hander doesn't get many swings and misses (6.6 career K/9) and had a 5.78 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 32 starts over 148 innings for the Chicago Cubs in 2021. But the 29-year-old has plenty of starting experience (155 career starts) in seven big-league seasons, so he should be in line to serve in a back-end starting rotation role to begin the season for Arizona. Davies might be a warm body for those in NL-only leagues, but he won't be very appealing to managers in shallower leagues on a bad team.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
