Zach Eflin Goes Seven Strong Innings Vs Braves
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin allowed one unearned run in seven innings against the Braves Wednesday night. Eflin scattered five hits and two walks while striking out four in his latest strong performance. Eflin isn't a big strikeout pitcher with only an 18.8 percent strikeout rate but does a good job limiting walks and hard contact. His 6.4 percent walk rate is strong and is only giving up 37.1 percent hard contact. He'll carry an even 4.00 ERA into a tough matchup with the Nationals on Monday. It's a risky move to start Eflin against a good Washington lineup, but Eflin could be one of the few pitchers to make two starts next week with the Phillies fighting for their playoff lives.
