Zach Eflin Labors In Start At Rays
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin couldn't escape the fifth inning in a loss at the Rays on Sunday. Eflin had five strikeouts, but allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while taking his fifth loss of the season. It was another frustrating start for fantasy managers as Eflin has pitched better than his 4.10 ERA would imply. His xERA (3.43), is lower than his actual ERA and his other expected stats like his xBA (.258) and xwOBA (.295) also imply Eflin has been the victim of some bad luck. He'll try and turn things around in a matchup with the Nationals on Saturday. Washington is slightly below average (96 wRC+) versus right-handed pitching so Eflin is a start-worthy pitcher in that matchup.
