Zach Eflin Manages Six Shutout Innings At Cubs
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin earned his fourth win of the season Thursday by firing six shutout innings at Wrigley Field. Eflin did not pitch as well as his final line may indicate; he needed 27 pitches to escape the first inning and was at 51 pitches through two frames. He allowed five hits and a walk, but was helped by his defense and two key double-plays to get through six innings and pick up the win. The 27-year-old righty ends the first half at 4-6 with a 3.88 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 94 strikeouts in 102 innings. Fantasy managers would like to see his 22.3 percent K-rate rise, but he's been good overall as his 3.77 SIERA and 3.69 ERA indicate. He's far from a must-start option in fantasy, but he should be rostered in most leagues and started when he has a good matchup.
