Zach Eflin Overcomes Rain Delay To Post Strong Start
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin pitched six innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts despite having his start interrupted by rain in the third inning. Eflin was visibly displeased at the timing of the delay, but bounced back to complete four more innings, needing only 86 pitches on the afternoon. The Phillies' bullpen couldn't preserve the win for Eflin, but it was another encouraging start for a pitcher who came into the season with plenty of hype. Eflin made a pitch-mix change last season to rely more on his sinker and slider which resulted in a 10 percent bump in strikeout rate. The K's haven't come yet this season, but Eflin has looked good with a 2.77 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Fantasy managers should leave him locked into lineups even with a challenging Cardinals squad next.
