4 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Zack Britton (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list on Wednesday night. Britton hasn't been able to pitch since early March due to a bone chip in his left elbow- with the Yankees forced to look elsewhere for their bridge to the ninth inning until at least late May. The 33-year-old was considered a player to watch in holds and saves leagues. He pitched to a 1.90 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 80.1 innings for the Yankees in 2019 and 2020 combined. A possible name to watch in Britton's absence is right-hander Nick Nelson, who had a strong spring, allowing just one walk and one run while fanning 10 batters in 10 innings.--Tim Capurso
