Britton came on in the eighth inning, allowing a leadoff double before getting a strikeout. The southpaw put another runner on base after an infield single, but a timely double-play ball got him out of the inning unscathed. Britton tied a Yankee record by inducing a double play in each of his last five relief appearances. The veteran reliever has allowed too many baserunners this season, though his groundball rate, 67.6 percent, has remained as steady as ever, a recipe for future success.
