5 years agoOn the IL with a shoulder impingement since July 12, Zack Wheeler came out of his bullpen on Sunday feeling good enough that the Mets are now evaluating whether or not to insert him back into the rotation during their upcoming series with San Diego. Manager Mickey Callaway still thinks that Wheeler may need to face hitters in a simulated game before returning but still left open the idea that he could slot in after Jason Vargas on Wednesday or Thursday when the Mets take on the Padres at Citi Field. As he is one of their biggest trade chips, New York would love to for Wheeler to get in multiple auditions before the July 31 deadline.--Nicklaus Gaut - RotoBaller
