6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler has been pitching well as of late, but he was unable to keep the stretch going on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies. He wasn’t bad in this one, especially from a strikeouts perspective, but he just wasn’t as sharp as we’ve seen. Across 4 2/3 innings pitched, Wheeler allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out eight. The good news is the effort marked the sixth time in the last eight games Wheeler has allowed three runs or less; the bad news is he couldn't make it through the fifth inning with a pitch count of 102. Wheeler should be a solid fantasy asset when he next takes the hill on Friday against the Washington Nationals.--John Smith
