Zack Wheeler Earns Fifth Win With Six Shutout Innings
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler continued his impressive run with six shutout innings at the Dodgers to pick up his fifth win of the season. Wheeler wasn't as dominant as he had been in recent starts as he allowed five hits and four walks, but he was able to escape a couple of jams to keep the defending champs off the scoreboard. The 31-year-old right-hander has now completed six innings in 10 straight starts and is sporting a 1.61 ERA in that span with 92 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings. On the season he's got a 32.4 percent strikeout rate and a 13.4 percent swinging-strike rate as he's turned into a matchup-proof ace for fantasy. The Nationals are the next victim lined up to face Wheeler.
