7 years agoIt may have come against the lowly Cincinnati Reds, but New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler rebounded in a big way on Wednesday from the destruction he endured at the hands of the Colorado Rockies last Friday. Wheeler pitched six innings and allowed only one earned run on four hits and three walks in Cincinnati, striking out seven in the process. Inconsistency has been the bane of Wheeler’s career thus far, so we wouldn’t rush to put much stock into this. He did say that he warmed up in a different manner than usual, enabling him to avoid the first-inning struggles that he so often suffers from. We’ll see if there’s anything to that his next time out, which will come on Wednesday at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.--John Smith
