6 years agoThroughout his career, New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler has never been a model of endurance. Commonly racking up high pitch counts early in games, Wheeler was usually knocked out long before he could even think of picking up a quality start. In Wheeler’s resurgent 2018, though, quality starts have become the norm. With his increased velocity and success, he’s earned that achievement in four of his last six starts, including seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts against the Pittsburgh Pirates his last time out. There’s no reason to think Wheeler can’t do it again when he faces off with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. Roll him out there with confidence.--John Smith
