Zack Wheeler Spins Eight Strong Innings In St. Louis
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler fired eight innings of one-run ball with nine strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season. Wheeler allowed just one hit but did walk three in his longest start of the year. The 30-year-old right-hander has been good this season with a 3.13 ERA and a 3.55 xFIP. He can't be counted on to maintain his 27 percent strikeout rate, Wheeler pitches deep into games so he should accrue plenty of wins while providing strong ratios. He should be started in his next outing at home against the Mets.
