Zack Wheeler Throws Second Quality Start In Three Tries
6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler may have taken the loss against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, but he pitched well enough to win had his team scored some runs. In an advantageous matchup, Wheeler picked up the quality start by allowing three runs over six innings pitched on seven hits without any walks and nine strikeouts. It was Wheeler’s second quality start in his last three outings and fourth on the year in eight tries. The strikeouts are especially encouraging here, as Wheeler now has 23 punchouts over his last 16 innings pitched (three starts) against only six walks. Wheeler will next take the hill against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park on Sunday. While it’s a more difficult matchup, at this point he seems to be becoming a reliable source of strikeouts.
