3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler (shoulder) threw 45 pitches in two-plus innings during an intrasquad game on Saturday. Manager Joe Girardi said that Wheeler could throw 60 pitches in his next start on Thursday in spring training. If he avoids setbacks, Wheeler will make his season debut against the New York Met on April 12. The 31-year-old right-hander was delayed to start camp due to right shoulder soreness, but he should be able to avoid starting the year on the injured. After leading the league in strikeouts in 2021 as a first-time All-Star, Wheeler has become a low-end fantasy ace.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
