Zay Jones Played Through Torn Labrum
7 years agoBuffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Zay Jones' (shoulder) father, Robert, said his son played with a torn labrum in his shoulder for most of the season. It may help explain why Jones struggled to find consistency in his first season in the NFL. He saw more snaps (792) than any other receiver on the team in 2017 but finished with just 27 catches for 316 yards and two touchdowns. Jones' father also said that his son will have surgery to fix his shoulder Tuesday. Jones also played through a torn labrum in college in 2015. It didn't help Jones' cause that the Bills were a run-first team that leaned on running back LeSean McCoy. With better health in 2018, Jones could improve, but it'll depend on who Buffalo trots out under center, with quarterback Tyrod Taylor unlikely to stick around.
