ANALYSIS: Rishard Matthews had a great first three weeks of 2015 despite being part of an absolutely atrocious Joe Philbin led Dolphins offense. While Jarvis Landry would get his catches, Matthews was the only real consistent weapon that Ryan Tannehill was really producing. Week 4 was a tough draw against the Jets, and then Week 5 had Matthews on a bye. Perhaps this made you forget about him?
Well you should remember, because you are going to be hard pressed to find a matchup proof, week in week out producer. His Week 4 dud happened, but in Week 6’s thumping of the Tennessee Titans, Matthews again saw six targets and caught all of them for 85 yards. The most important factor here is that in the face of change for the franchise, Matthews was not all of a sudden buried for someone that the new coaching staff liked more. Matthews saw the field and put up a healthy stat line. When the offense is firing on all cylinders, it helps everyone in the offense see production. While it’d be premature to crown Dan Campbell’s Miami Dolphins as an unquestioned offensive juggernaut after one week, all of the signs look very good for Miami and their players moving forward from a fantasy (and real life) perspective.
