Starts & Sits for Week 1 (Part 2) - All Starting Pitcher Matchups for Fantasy Baseball

Fellow RotoBallers, Opening Day has come and gone -- we are officially off and running with the 2022 MLB season! It's been an exciting first few games, and now we'll enter the first full week of fantasy baseball action - what we are referring to as part 2 of Week 1. So we hope your teams are off to roaring starts, and we welcome you back to our starting pitcher starts/sits column for the second half of Week 1. We are thrilled to be publishing this article again weekly! In case you missed it, this is our tenth year now writing this weekly column, helping fantasy baseball managers pick the best pitchers weekly.

For those who are not familiar, RotoBaller puts out a weekly grid of starting pitcher matchups and "start or sit" recommendations. I (Jon Anderson) have taken it over for this year, and I'm excited to bring it to you all season long. I will say that my approach to this is going to be mostly conservative, you will see me leaning more towards "sit" when things are close. You should always, of course, keep in mind your league contexts. Depending on the depth of your league, it will make more or less sense to start a fringe guy. My default mindset here is a league where about 350 players are rostered, so just keep that in the back of your mind throughout the year.

For every week of the fantasy baseball season, we are going to analyze every single projected starting pitcher matchup for fantasy baseball and help you set optimal lineups. Below are the projected starting pitching matchups and starts/sits for the second half of Week 1 -- April 11th through April 17th -- which will be updated as rotations continue to be announced and modified. This column will make continuous adjustments for any postponements or rotation shuffles, reflecting official beat writer speculation for as many unconfirmed rotation slots as possible. Let's set those winning lineups!

Start/Sit Data Overview

This weekly piece considers the pitcher’s opponents, their outlook against lefties and righties, some ballpark factors, and historical splits. With all of this information, we then provide our start/sit recommendations for each starting pitcher matchup for the approaching week of fantasy baseball.

Each player will be valued with a Start/Sit recommendation, we are also including a "Score" column this year to display the level of confidence in that pick. Scores go from 0-100 in increments of five. The higher, the better! They are also color-coded, as you'll see.

Legend:

• Proj GS - the number of starts the starter is projected to make in the week's scoring period.
• Score - A metric of confidence, from 0-100 in increments of five. The higher, the better for the pitcher.

This chart is updated daily as probable starters are constantly changing with game postponements, injuries, and other events.
