Agenda

  1. Mo Moncada
  2. Today's Weather and Updates
  3. Tomorrow's Picks

1.Mo Moncada

Yoan Moncada has been back in the White Sox lineup since September 5. And he's starting to show signs of adjusting to the majors. He's batting .265/.342/.412 in his most recent trial - not including today's action. Speaking of today, here he is hitting a "just enough" home run. Guess what? He's just over 25 percent owned.

2. Today's Weather and Updates

The forecast is clear for today and tomorrow.

3. Tomorrow's Picks - Friday, September 15

Pitchers to Use

I hope you don't need to stream a pitcher for tomorrow. Your options are... poor. It seems the other shoe has dropped for Edwin Jackson. While his 4.14 ERA is still palatable, he's allowed nine runs and four home runs over his last nine innings. Overall, he's coughed up 2.14 HR/9. Although the Dodgers roster is icy cold right now, I'm not very comfortable rolling with Jackson.

Alas, your alternatives are Rafael Montero visiting Sean Newcomb. Both pitchers exhibit good stuff and poor command. Montero has a 5.05 ERA with 8.85 K/9 and 5.05 BB/9. Since mid-August, he has a 3.22 ERA (4.98 xFIP) with 7.93 K/9 and 5.45 BB/9. Obviously, the peripherals remain worrisome. Newcomb is basically the same pitcher - 4.38 ERA, 9.39 K/9, and 5.34 BB/9. Both hurlers limit home runs - else their ERAs would float above 6.00.

Other Targets: no

Pitchers to Exploit

Gabriel Ynoa is a decent pitching prospect with solid command and control. He doesn't induce many strikeouts, but I expect those to come as he adjusts to the majors. Don't be surprised if he's a regular fantasy asset two or three years from now. Until then, I expect plenty of hiccups. He probably won't reach five innings tomorrow. Ynoa and the Orioles are visiting the mashtastic Yankees.

Other Targets: Daniel Mengden, Carson Fulmer, Anibal Sanchez, Matt Andriese, Homer Bailey, Clayton Richard, Tyler Chatwood, Nick Martinez, Bartolo Colon

Homers on the Wire

There are so many good hitters available on the waiver wire. This is probably my last chance to mention Matt Olson. He's doing Yonder Alonso/Rhys Hoskins things at the plate including 18 home runs in 176 plate appearances. Olson has a high strikeout rate, so he won't follow the path of Hoskins long term. Try the other Matts too - namely Matt Chapman and Matt Joyce. They face Mark Leiter.

For a period, Nick Williams was drawing walks. Then he stopped walking. It's ok though. Since his last walk on September 3, he's hitting .436/.452/.667 (.517 BABIP, one HBP) in 42 plate appearances. He has a friendly matchup against Mengden.

Other Targets: Stephen Piscotty, Jayson Werth, Maikel Franco, Jed Lowrie, Alex Jackson, Yoan Moncada, Dansby Swanson, Mitch Haniger, Justin Bour, Keon Broxton, Jose Pirela, Hunter Renfroe

Steals on the Wire

A cluster of Phillies could be our best hope for a stolen base tomorrow. Cesar Hernandez, Aaron Altherr, and Freddy Galvis are all 10 to 15 steal guys. They find themselves opposite an exploitable battery. Mengden allows a ton of base runners, and the Athletics are one of only a few teams to allow over 100 stolen bases.

Other Targets: Michael Taylor, Yolmer Sanchez, Tim Anderson, Jose Reyes, Manuel Margot, Delino DeShields

Skill Positions

Yan Gomes is set to face another lefty. He's hitting .248/.339/.495 with the platoon advantage. If he's out, it's because Roberto Perez is on fire - .375/.432/.850 with five home runs in his last 45 plate appearances.
